Frequently Asked Questions

  • Your safety is our top priority. As a precaution, we strongly advise against cosmetic injectable procedures during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Limited information on potential effects on the fetus further emphasises our caution.

  • It is advisable to abide by a minimum waiting period of 2 weeks before or after receiving any vaccination.

  • Our foremost concern is your well-being and comfort at every stage. To uphold the highest standards of care, we strictly adhere to the latest screening guidelines for Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) set by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and developed by the Medical Board of Australia. This ensures that we proactively address any underlying mental health considerations during your experience with us.

Your healthcare provider will inquire about Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) in the general section of your medical history form if deemed necessary. If necessary, a more detailed formal screening will be conducted. This process assists us in customising treatment plans and making well-informed decisions to prioritise your overall health and well-being.

General Questions

  • • Reduce alcohol intake at least 24 hours before your appointment to minimise the risk of bruising, as alcohol can thin the blood.

    • Disclose if you are on immunosuppressive therapy.

    • Prior to and after treatment, it may be beneficial to take oral Arnica Montana. This supplement is known for its natural properties to mitigate swelling and bruising.

•Before the injectable treatment, it is important to consult your GP to discuss and possibly adjust certain medications and supplements for safety. To reduce the risk of bruising, it is recommended to avoid taking blood-thinning medications and supplements for at least a week prior to the procedure.

    • 7-10 days prior to treatment, stop taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications like aspirin, Advil, Ibuprofen etc.

    • Stop using herbal supplements (fish oil, ginkgo, ginseng, St. John’s Wort, garlic pills, etc.) a week before treatment. Multivitamins are usually safe to continue.

    • Discuss any history of allergies and current medications with your injector for a comprehensive understanding.

    • If you have a history of cold sores, inform your provider, as there is a risk of an outbreak following the treatment.

    • Avoid scheduling your treatment within three weeks of any significant event to allow for recovery and optimal results.

  • The duration of dermal fillers ranges from 6 to 12 months and may last longer, depending on the body's metabolism. However, the frequent use of lips, being a high-activity area, can affect the longevity of the results.

  • Receiving Dermal Fillers is typically characterised by a mild pinch, a sense of pressure or a stinging sensation during the injection. However, the perception of pain is subjective and varies from person to person, influenced by factors like the treated area and individual pain tolerance.

  • Common side effects after dermal filler treatment include:

    • Redness

    • Swelling

    • Bruising

    • Tenderness at the injection site.

    • Bleeding

    • Swelling-mild to moderate

    • Itching

These side effects are usually mild and resolve independently within a few days to a week.

    • Tissue damage may occur in rare cases.

    • Vascular occlusion- Filler entering a blood vessel

    • Tissue death and scarring-post vascular occlusion

    • Stroke

    • Ulceration of the skin

    • Haematoma- collection of blood outside the blood vessel

    • skin discolouration

    • Permanent disfigurement

    Risks/Side effects

Dermal filler injections carry a small but definitive risk of injury to facial vessels, leading to swelling, bruising, scarring, and skin breakdown.

Prompt communication with your nurse injector is crucial if such symptoms arise. Although rare, blindness and stroke are associated with the injection of filler into blood vessels.

At Sireni Aesthetics, we are confident in the quality of our services and encourage our clients to schedule a follow-up appointment to discuss any concerns or make any necessary adjustments.

  • For the best results following your Dermal Filler treatment at Sireni Aesthetics, we provide tailored aftercare guidance.

    • Stay upright for at least 6 hours post-treatment to help the product settle effectively. Avoid lying down during this time.

    • Hold off on skin treatments like Microdermabrasion, Skin needling, or Dermal Rolling for at least two weeks after Dermal Fillers.

    • Avoid active topical skin care products containing Vitamin A, retinoids, or AHAs for 24 hours after the treatment.

    • Avoid alcohol for 24-48 hours after dermal filler injections to reduce swelling and bruising.

    • For the next 7 days, please do not take any massages lying face down.

    • Refrain from exercising for 24-48 hours after treatment. Avoid activities that involve inverted poses or sweating as the filler settles.

    • Avoid extreme temperature changes (e.g. saunas, ice baths) for 48 hours to prevent filler displacement.

    • Be gentle when cleansing, applying skincare or makeup. Avoid touching treated areas for 4-6 hours to minimise infection risk.

    Adverse Reactions:

The following symptoms are considered abnormal after a dermal filler treatment:

    • Skin discolouration in the treatment area or its surroundings, displaying shades of purple, blue, white, or grey. This signals a vascular occlusion, necessitating immediate intervention.

    • Ulceration or blistering in the treatment area or its surroundings.

    • Severe swelling impacting normal activities such as eating, drinking, or sleeping.

    • Increasing pain in the days following treatment.

    • Redness and heat observed at the injection site or its surroundings.

    • Formation of inflamed, hardened lumps accompanied by discomfort upon touch.

    • Discharge, ooze, or persistent bleeding from the injection sites.

    • Persistent itchiness, with or without the presence of a rash.

    • Delayed sudden appearance of firm, inflamed lumps in the areas where the injection was administered.

  • As a rule, avoiding international travel for two weeks post-treatment reduces the risk of unpredictable swelling and bruising due to prolonged cabin air pressure.

  • It is recommended to schedule a consultation prior to dissolving any filler that was received at Sireni Aesthetics or any other practice. This measure serves to ensure individual circumstances are assessed, concerns are addressed, and personalised recommendations are provided.

VOLUME RESTORATION

  • Pain perception varies among individuals due to different pain thresholds. Many clients describe the sensation of face injections as a brief prick. While there's a slight pinching feeling, it typically lasts only for a few seconds. At Sireni Aesthetics, the treatments generally do not indicate topical anaesthesia. However, if desired, a topical anaesthetic may be used. Kindly acquire this from your pharmacist before your scheduled treatment.

  • Results from Botulinum toxin treatments typically become noticeable within 2-3 days post-treatment, with the full effect achieved within 7-14 days. These effects commonly last up to 3-4 months, varying based on individual factors.

  • To minimise the risk of bruising, kindly refrain from the following:

    • Omega 3/Fish oil supplements: Avoid for at least 1 week before the treatment.

    • Aspirin: Avoid for at least 7-10 days before the treatment.

•. NSAID Pain relievers (Ibuprofen/Advil): Avoid for at least 2-3 days before the treatment.

    • Blood Thinners (If approved by your GP): Follow your GP's guidance regarding when to stop these medications before the treatment, as it may vary based on individual health conditions.

  • • It is imperative that you refrain from touching the treated areas as this may lead to infection and accidental spreading of the product to unintended muscles.

    • To ensure optimal results, we kindly request that you avoid engaging in strenuous physical activity for the next 24 hours.

    • We recommend waiting for at least 2 weeks before considering any other facial or aesthetic treatments in the treated area.

    • Please refrain from receiving face-down massages for the next 48 hours to avoid any unwanted pressure on the treated area.

    • We advise that you do not use active skincare products such as retinoids, vitamin A, or AHAs for the next 24 hours after the treatment.

    • The full effectiveness of the product will manifest in 14 days. To evaluate the outcome of the treatment, we suggest attending a review.
